There was a time when I denied my southern roots and was even ashamed of them. Throughout the years I lost most of my Alabama drawl, as well as my connection to what was once home. I traveled in Europe and met a wide variety of people through my career in the military. I achieved what I always dreamed of as a girl growing up in "the sticks," the ability to see many countries and soak up many cultures. But now I'm symbolically coming home. I realize that those childhood years are golden material for the stories that I want to write these days, and I welcome them with pride.
In the past seven years I’ve traveled to Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Korea, Germany, Switzerland, England, France, Liechtenstein, Austria, Ireland, Qatar and Spain. I enjoy Thai food, Indian food, sushi and many types of ethnic cuisine. Life is an adventure that we make for ourselves, in my opinion. I'm on a quest to daily continue learning all I can about people and the world around me.
